We work with road hauliers who collect and deliver our cranable curtain-sided trailers between shippers, receivers and intermodal terminals — the road legs of our combined transport chain, with our hub in Lübeck.
The work
In combined transport the long haul runs by rail or sea, and road haulage covers the first and last mile. You collect our loaded trailer at the shipper and take it to the intermodal terminal, or pick it up at the terminal and deliver it to the receiver. At the terminal the trailer is lifted by crane — the cargo is not touched or re-secured.

Requirements
- A truck tractor capable of pulling a 44 t combination
- Valid CMR insurance and an international transport licence
- Familiarity with cranable trailer coupling and uncoupling
- Agreement with Effimodal’s Code of Conduct and operational manual

Questions from hauliers
Do you provide the trailers?
Yes. You haul our own cranable curtain-sided trailers: 13.6 m long, with lifting points for the crane at the terminal and the cargo securing equipment on board. You bring a tractor unit that can pull a 44 t combination.
Do I need experience with cranable trailers?
Familiarity with coupling and uncoupling cranable trailers is one of our requirements. How our trailers are handled on the road and at the terminals is described in our Manual for Intermodal Transportation of Cranable Trailers, which we go through with you at onboarding.
In which regions do you need hauliers?
Our network connects the Baltic States, Scandinavia, Germany and Italy through our hub in Lübeck. Tell us the regions you cover — we contact suitable applicants when we need capacity in their region.
Does an application guarantee work?
No. We check every application and contact suitable applicants when our lanes need capacity in their region. Applying does not guarantee acceptance or assignments.
